A little more about me..

A
little
more
about
me

Hmm, how would I describe myself you ask?! How about crazy, spunky, hot mess mama most days but also determined, boldly honest and heart on my sleeve kind of girl! So yea, I am Kristina and I am the Owner of Kristina Michelle Studios (Previously known as Sandy Prints Photography). If you cant tell already, I am much of an open book! I love building relationships with my clients and the only way to do that is to let you in! I have many passions but there are a few that shape me as a person and may help you decide if I'm the right photographer for you!

I am passionate about..

My family! I am 100% a family first photographer. I actually love what I do most because it allows me to prioritize my family when it's important and when things come up! We all know life happens!

My dogs! My 2 fur babies are getting quite old and are in their last years. I try and give them a little extra love and special care to help them live their best lives! Don't you just wish they lived forever?!

Autism! Yep, autism! My wonderful little boy happens to be on the spectrum and I have spent many years learning and studying autism to help him have the best and most fulfilling life ever! He is so amazingly smart, has the biggest heart and even though he drives me crazy most days, he brings me the absolute most joy just by giving me one of his cheesy smiles! I have helped other parents advocate for their children and LOVE finding organizations that help share and spread more knowledge of autism in children!

This one is as unique as me! I love being a bold and transparent person! To be honest, some have not enjoyed my bold characteristics but I feel life is just too short to not live life to the fullest and hide behind fake faces. I have been known over the years as a woman that is too much, too loud, too bold and too determined but I have finally reached a point in my life that I accept that this is just who I am! I am surrounded by so many who love and appreciate me and I would never change a single thing about myself! I feel it is important to find your true self and live!

I loved upgrading my point and shoot cameras as they came out. Always eager for the next best feature. Typically I would capture landscapes, family pictures and fun events with friends.

I followed the ladder for many many years in the manufacturing industry. Moving up the line in management and business roles. I pushed myself because I though status meant success but deep down I was never truly happy with my everyday life! My positive outlook, looking back, is gaining so much knowledge in business and watched first hand what things worked and didn't work in the business industry.

After the surprise of our son, we finally finished planning our wedding after many years and tied the knot! I had so much excitement for the day that took so long to plan to have it be a complete disaster. On top of that, my photography experience was not a great one either. I did not know it at the time, but this experience would help shape my 'why' in my business as I would shoot weddings years later!

A sudden and stressful change came to my career that not only opened my eyes to new and better opportunities but to also start appreciating my self worth more than I had years previous!

I got the opportunity to focus on my son and family for once and start dabbling in activities that I enjoyed during my free time. So I went out and bought a new (to me) camera but this time I opted for learning a dslr instead of the old point and shoots I used for so many years before!

Once I realized I still enjoyed photography as much as I used to, I wanted to now learn how to shoot professionally! I started up classes and practiced mastering my skills to a professional degree. The thought crossed my mind of doing professional photography part time and I had no idea it would soon grow to bloom into a full photography business!

I did it! I was so proud and excited that i created my own business and was so eager to watch it grow and blossom! I had the many years of business skills and now was just figuring out how to piece together the business side and the photography side!

If you have ever run a business or started a business, you will know it is not an easy task! There have been many challenges but thankfully it has taken slow and steady growth as I master my business plan!

Like I had stated before, I had no idea my own horrible wedding photography experience would shape my business and how I took care of my wedding clients.
I remembered so many things that I was in the dark about and had zero guidance when planning and picking my photographer. I felt these things were so important to educate brides on, and take care of, so my wedding clients would have a lasting and memorable experience on their wedding day!

As I did love my wedding clients, I still didn't feel that my clients had a lasting empowerment feeling from their images that I wished they had! I wanted my images to mean more to them and have a deeper impact. A lot of care and emotion goes into making professional images. So I began learning about boudoir portraits and how the experience can be a changing one for women. After my first session was complete it was like it all just clicked! I started the slow pivot to incorporate boudoir into my normal shooting and am never turning back!
